Te Reo Māori is the indigenous language of Aotearoa - New Zealand. It is the language of my tūpuna and the language i am learning and choosing to speak today.

I am passionate about learning Te Reo Māori and being a part of the movement in which the focus is to revitalise this taonga that so many of us unfortunately have been without for most of our lives. I committed to my learning journey in 2018 and now focus on moving forward rather than looking back.

This has enabled me to act as a kaiāwhina in mainstream primary schools sharing this amazing kaupapa (program) i ngā kaiako me ngā tamariki (with the teachers & children)

The NZ government has set a goal along with Te Taura Whiri i Te Reo Māori - The Māori Language Commission to have 1 million speakers by 2040- I believe our young people are the key to changing the way Aotearoa views Te Ao Māori and I feel blessed to a part of their journey…
