Greetings to you all, but indeed to you for arriving at the YO! website.
I started YO! at the end 2009 after returning to Aotearoa after living in the UK for 8 years. I was an at home mum with 4 children (a 1yr old at home) wanting to get back to my former fitter-stronger and I didn't want to do it on my own! So I decided to reach out to more of our Te Atatū community, especially mums like myself. Since then the fitness industry has exploded with 24/7 gyms, outdoor bootcamps, online options, homebased studios and more, I opened a gym on Wharf Rd for 7 years closing it after our first Covid lockdown. OH YEAH lets not forget to mention the change across the world with Covid hitting us. Now more than ever our health & wellbeing is being recognised as an even bigger priority in dealing with the huge changes affecting us all. That gives me more drive to do what i do here.
Fitness has been a big part of my life since 1999 when i first qualified and started as a trainer - and I still love it because it enables me to connect with people from all walks of life, guide them through part of their health & fitness journey, form friendships and together we impact each others lives in a massive way. That fills my heart.
I have had the pleasure of seeing many people transition into a stronger, fitter, healthier & happier person over the years- and consider myself very blessed to have been raised with a very holistic view on the world around us and the people within. That is how I have always viewed our whole wellbeing- Body, mind, soul, family. In our Māori worldview it is Te Whare Tapa Whā- The total wellbeing of a person depends of 4 pillars of wellbeing: Our Tinana - our hyscical wellbeing, our Hinengaro - mental & emotional wellbeing, our Wairua - our spiritual wellbeing, and Whānau wellbeing. They all go hand in hand and at YO! I always consider a holistic approach to all that we do. My focus is to help clients improve their current state, stay motivated, find enjoyment in it and ultimately reach their goals.
That is my belief system.

I have been serving Te Atatū community since late 2009 and still love what I do! Its the people, the members that give me the most joy in what I do. I know first hand that it is more than just a workout- its the connection, the laughs, the sweat and the high 5s at the end of something challenging yet awesome! Join us and let us motivate you with an awesome group of locals who turn up, do the work, have fun and have found their happy place with us… outdoors working hard to stay fit, strong and healthy!
We work to create a strong sense of BELONGING amongst our members, ENCOURAGE and SUPPORT healthy nutrition, initiate and motivate regular participation and commitment to each individuals session.
Our goal is to provide an experience that offers a VARIATION of sessions that target all components of FITNESS and allows us to keep our groups at a smaller number to maintain instructor to participant focus. After all, we don’t want you getting lost in it all… although you may find you turn up to a session, get in the zone, go hard and LOSE YOURSELF in it all quite naturally!

We can promise that we will CHALLENGE and MOTIVATE you, get you moving in ways you may not have done since childhooh LIFTING, jumping, PUSHING, boxing ……….you name it, you might just be doing it…..It will be WORK, but it will be FUN! However a session goes, it will challenge you MENTALLY and physically, but the group CAMARADERIE will get you through and at the end of it we’ll HIGH 5 each other!
At YO! It's not about who crosses the finish line first or who gets the most reps, its about STARTING and finishing the tasks set before you… MISSION COMPLETED!
Sitting at home, wondering not ever starting and finishing is NOT an option!
